Samoška 2026: What Happened, What Mattered, and What’s Next for Traditional Retail

Samoška again lived up to its reputation as the defining event for Czech and Slovak traditional retail. Held on 27–28 January in Olomouc, the two-day congress brought together store owners, suppliers, distributors, and technology partners to share know-how, discuss challenges, and build connections across the retail ecosystem.

RETAILERS FACE NEW CHALLENGES TOGETHER

The Samoška congress attracted over 400 attendees representing independent retailers, retail chains, wholesalers, and service providers from all around the Czech Republic and Slovakia. This year’s central theme, “How to Stay in the Game”, produced discussions about legislation, digitalisation, customer expectations, and strategic adaptation.

SAMOŠKA: DAY 1

The first day opened with a tour of the Hopi distribution centre in Prostějov, where visitors got a behind-the-scenes look at modern logistics and stock management. Afterward came informal networking opportunities and stand exhibitions. Hosted by Clarion Congress Hotel, the event was supplied by excellent catering and a rich social programme. 

Despite the challenges that traditional retailers have to face, the atmosphere was relaxed and hopeful. As a Silver Partner, CareCloud exhibited one of the largest stands with a fully operational kiosk where visitors could explore CareCloud platform freely. Our first day was filled with valuable discussion and future business opportunities.

SAMOŠKA: DAY 2

Samoška’s second day introduced an insightful programme, with practical case studies, best practices, and professional discussions. It kicked off with a hopeful presentation of Martin Košťál on well-being and positive mindset in the light of recent challenges.

The Minister of Finance took the stage to present the revised Electronic Sales Registration norms and how they will affect retailers. On the other hand, Michal Klučka and Pavel Vinkler from the Ministry of Industry and Trade discussed how the state can support store owners through systematic changes and digitalisation.

Coop Vice-Chairman of the Board Lukáš Němčík revealed how well their first digital assistant “Míša” did when implemented in 24/7 stores. Even traditional retail is evolving as customer behavior changes each year. The day’s programme concluded with a series of inspiring video reports from local store owners, like Klára Steinerová and her home-made jams store “Liška domácí.”

SAMOŠKA IS THE HEART OF THE TRADITIONAL RETAIL

The event showed us how a vibrant community faces the challenges ahead. With over three decades of tradition, Samoška proved to be a perfect space for innovation, insight, and networking.

The organizer ATOZ, displayed great experience and skill in arranging the whole event and gathering the leading voices of traditional retail in one place.
